Forests and Glaciers
Narsarsuaq is home to the Greenlandic arboretum, an experimental forest with tree varieties from as far away as Siberia and Alaska. Or if you want to venture to a cooler landscape, Narsarsuaq is one of the few places in Greenland where it is possible to walk right up and touch the ice cap. Hike to the end of the road, follow the trail along a brook to a waterfall, and climb 300 meters up the mountainside to a plateau with a breathtaking view of the glacier.

Iceberg Safaris and Viking Ruins
You can book a boat trip to the magnificent Qorooq Glacier, one of the most active glaciers in the world, which discharges up to 200,000 tons of ice into the fjord a day!
Across the fjord from Narsarsuaq lies the sheep farming community of Qassiarsuk. This is the site of the former Norse settlement of Brattahlid and historical reconstructions of a Viking longhouse and a small church.

Bird's Eye View of Greenland
A helicopter trip will take you to places that would otherwise be virtually impossible to reach - glaciers, fjord systems and breathtaking valleys. Treat yourself to a bird's eye view of the icebergs and the immensity of the ice cap. Helicopter trips can include stops ranging from a few minutes to an overnight stay in a remote mountain camp.

History Comes Alive
History buffs will want to visit the Narsarsuaq Museum in the Bluie West 1 building with its many exhibitions on the airport, including photos and objects from the American airbase period, from 1941 to 1958.
